The Media Laboratory Initiative project aims to create a digital infrastructure that facilitates the production of articles based on data journalism. The goal is to create tools that facilitate data collection, analysis and visualization by journalists that are not specialized in data journalism. Furthermore, it aims to explore new formats and new types of interactivity. This project will be conducted in collaboration with the Le Temps newspaper.
The research is led in Neuchâtel by Prof. Nathalie Pignard-Cheynel of the Academy of Journalism and Media (AJM) and is part of a partnership with Prof. Karl Aberer of the Data Science Laboratory at EPFL. Jérémie Rappaz (Ph.D, EPFL), Lena Wuergler (Ph.D, AJM), and Andrew Robotham (Ph.D, AJM) are collaborating on this project.
